Race Date: November 7th & 8th, 2026
Welcome to the Moab Trail Marathon, one of the most unique trail running experiences in the world! Set among the towering red rock canyons of southeastern Utah, the course takes runners deep into the spectacular Kane Creek Canyon area just outside Moab. From winding desert singletrack to breathtaking canyon rim views, every mile delivers unforgettable scenery and challenging terrain. Whether you’re chasing a National Championship or just soaking in the landscape, the Moab Trail Marathon promises an adventure you won’t forget!
We are excited to again offer the Sunday Half Marathon in addition to the traditional Saturday races. On Saturday we offer the Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and Kids K. On Sunday we offer the Half Marathon only. We added the Sunday Half Marathon since Saturdays Half Marathon typically fills up very early. The Sunday Half has since grown into a crowd favorite!
The USATF Trail Half Marathon Championship and Collegiate Trail Championship will take place on Saturday in conjunction with the Half Marathon. Register for Saturday if you’d like to participate in these prestigious races.
Location
The Moab Trail Marathon takes place in the Kane Creek Canyon area just outside of Moab, Utah. The race begins and ends at the Kane Creek Recreation Parking Area.
The course showcases some of the most dramatic terrain in the Moab
area, offering expansive views and an unforgettable trail running
experience in one of the most unique landscapes on earth.

Directions to Shuttle to the Start: NO on-site parking on race day. All participants must take the shuttle to/from the start or be dropped off by friend/family member. Shuttles will leave from the south side of Helen M
Knight Elementary School. It is a 5-mile, 13-minute shuttle to the start. (put here link to google maps HMK elementary bus pick up zone)
Registration:
Register at RunSignUp.com. Registration numbers are limited. Saturdays’ races typically fill up so it is recommended to register early.
Your Registration includes an incredible course (fully marked), Chip Timing, T-shirt, goodie bag, aid stations on course with water and snacks, post event soup, quesadillas, and snacks, a finishers medal and mug, awards to top finishers, and an amazing experience! A portion of your entry fee will be donated to various local non-profit organizations.
Entry Fees: Entry fees range between $45 and $190 depending on the race distance and date you register. Click here for price chart with dates & distances.

Packet Pick-Up
There are two options for packet pick-up:
Friday November 6th from 2pm-6pm at Kane Creek Recreational
Parking Lot, at the Start/Finish area. Parking at Friday pickup is limited, so please pick up your packet efficiently so we can accommodate everyone.

Race morning, before your start (starting at 6:15am): Park at HMK elementary and take the shuttle to the start to pick up your packet.
* Runners who pick up their packet on Friday will receive a coupon for a free fry or shake at Milt’s Stop & Eat.

Race Day Parking & Shuttle to Start
There is NO on-site parking on race day. All participants must either take the shuttle to/from the start or be dropped off by friend/family member. Shuttles will leave from the south side of Helen M Knight Elementary School. More information can be found here: Link to more shuttle information (pdf)
Start Times
Saturday:
Marathon: 6 waves between 7:45am-8:25am
Kids K: 8:45am
Half Marathon: 6 waves between 9:50am and 10:15am. 9:50am is the USATF & Collegiate wave. Also available, an 11am “sleep-in” wave. 10K: 4 waves 30 seconds apart between 10:25am and 10:27am
Sunday:
Half Marathon: 3 waves between 8am-8:45am
Cutoffs and Suggested Qualifying Standards
Cutoffs are set for the safety of runners and to allow volunteers and course staff to safely close the course before dark.
Qualifying standards are suggested as a guide to ensure you will finish within the cutoff and to protect you from getting in over your head out there.

AWARDS AND PRIZE MONEY
Marathon and Half Marathon Awards: Finishers’ mug and medal to all finishers within the cutoff. Special prize to the top M/F in the following divisions: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Top 3 M/F finishers will get a swag bag filled with goodies. There will be awards for both Saturdays and Sundays Half Marathon, as well as the Marathon.
USATF Trail Half Marathon Championship Awards: In addition to the Half
Marathon awards listed above, the USATF Championship participants will be eligible for USATF medals for open (19-39), junior (18 and under) and masters age groups (5-year increments, 40+). Prize money will also be awarded as follows: top 5 overall M/F– 1st: $800, 2nd: $650, 3rd: $550, 4th: $450, 5th: $350 and top m/f masters: $350 and grand master: $150.
Collegiate Trail Championships: Trophy to the top collegiate team and a prize to the male and female collegiate finishers. The Team Championship category is mixed team; with the top 2 male and top 2 female finish times, per team, combined for the team score.
10K Awards: Finishers mug and medal to all finishers within the cutoff. Swag bag filled with goodies to top 3 M/F overall. No age-group awards for the 10k.
Kids K Awards: Finishers mug and medal to all finishers.
More Awards Information:
Age group results & awards will be based on Chip Time. Overall results, awards & prize money will be based on Gun Time (i.e. the first to cross the line). Make sure you start in the first wave of your distance race if you are going for overall/top 3!
The ceremony will only be for the USATF Championship and Collegiate Championship. The ceremony will begin on Saturday at 1:30pm at the stage next to the awards tent.
Collegiate awards will follow the USATF awards.
ALL OTHER AWARD RECIPIENTS may pick up your award at the AWARDS TENT.
Note that age group awards will not be ready to be given out until up to 50 minutes after you finish, to allow for the difference in time for the various start waves (chip times) to be taken into account.

Cancellations and Change Policies
CANCELLATIONS: We offer refunds, deferrals, or transfers of entries to another person for those who are not able to make it. Note that these are not full refunds or deferrals, but rather partial credits depending on how close to the race you cancel. Please note the link below for deadlines. Deferrals and transfers to another person may be done in your RunSignUp account under ‘manage registration’. Race insurance is an option, and you may purchase the insurance at time of registration, if you are interested.
CHANGES TO YOUR ENTRY: If you need to make a change to your entry, you may do that in your RunSignUp account under “Manage Registration”. This includes changes to your shirt size, address, etc.
CHANGES IN DISTANCE: You may change to a different distance event if you’d like. You may drop down in distance, or upgrade to a longer distance. There is a small fee for the change as well as a charge for the price difference if upgrading. No refunds for price difference if you drop down. You can make the change in your RunSignUp account. Email race director if the race is full that you would like to change to.
